Holburn West Church Choir
Holburn West Church Choir is a small but dedicated group of singers conducted by Organist and Choir Master Ewen Ritchie. The Patron of the Choir is the Duchess of Kent.
The Choir Session lasts from September to June. During that period the Choir rehearses every Thursday evening from 7.30pm until 9.15pm and sings an anthem each Sunday.
The Choir also puts on two concerts a year; a Christmas Concert and a Passiontide Concert. These concerts have become increasingly popular events in the Church Diary and are well attended. The Music Minstry does not charge an admission fee to these concerts but gives the audience the opportunity to donate to a charity. At the 2009 Christmas Concert over £430 was raised for Alzheimer Scotland.
The Choir has an extensive repertoire and in recent years has performed Vivaldi's Gloria, excerpts from Fauré's Requiem, Charpentier's Messe de Minuit and Handel's Messiah, along with anthems and motets by F.J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, J.S. Bach, Sir Edward Elgar, Sir Hubert Parry, Bruckner and Rutter.
If you wish to join the Choir, even if just for the next concert, and you can read music, please contact Ewen Ritchie at churchoffice@holburnwestchurch.org.uk.
