About the choir

Choir leader and organist: Ewen Ritchie

Patron: The Duchess of Kent

Holburn West Church Choir is a small but dedicated group of singers who rehears from September to June on Thursday evenings (7.30pm until 9.15pm), and assist worship by singing an anthem each Sunday.

The Choir also puts on two concerts a year; a Christmas Concert and a Passiontide Concert. These concerts have become increasingly popular events in the church diary and are well attended. No charge is made for admission to these concerts but the audience is given the opportunity to donate to a charity. A sum of £890 was raised in 2009-2010 for various charities thanks to the generous donations of those who attended.

The choir has an extensive repertoire and in recent years has performed excerpts from Fauré's Requiem and Handel's Messiah, along with anthems and motets by F.J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, J.S. Bach, Sir Edward Elgar, Sir Hubert Parry, Bruckner and Rutter.

If you wish to join the Choir, and you can read music, please contact Ewen by email: organist@holburnwestchurch.org.uk or contact the church office.
